Sound Reducing Acoustical Paint

You can reduce the travel of sound waves in your home by three basic ways,
1. Block the airborne pathways.
You can block the pathways of the sound travel by sealing air leaks around electrical and plumbing wall penetrations and by installing weatherstripping around door and window openings.

2. Break the vibration pathways.
You can break the vibration paths through solid materials by moving drywall away from the studs using special resilient metal channels and by installing suspended ceilings.

3. Absorb the sound energy.
And you can absorb sound by using acoustic materials within your rooms, by padding and carpeting floors, and by painting your interior walls and ceilings with Acousti-Coat.

Hy-Tech Acousti-Coat is a heavy bodied, water based flat latex paint formulated with ceramic microspheres and special sound absorbing fillers.
Acousti-Coat is for use on interior surfaces including drywall ceilings and walls, plaster, primed metal and wood.
The combination of a high loading of the HyTech insulating ceramic microspheres with their vacuum centers, and soft, sound absorbing pigment fillers absorb sound and prevent it from bouncing off the surface. Acousti Coat will reduce normal levels of sound but is not intended for use where extreme sound reduction is necessary.
Acousti-Coat is the ideal paint for interior ceilings, the very high concentration of insulating ceramics and other pigments adds a high reflective heat barrier to the painted surface. The small texture also helps in hiding surface defects such as drywall joints, dings and dents.

Application Instructions:
Areas to be covered must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before applying Acousti-Coat
Manual Applicators
For best results apply two thin layers, allowing to dry between coats.
Roller Applicators
At least a 3/4" nap and up to a 1-3/4" nap is recommended.
Coverage: Appx 100-150 sq feet per gallon
